Alex Lopez's Name Immortalized in Future Park: Names in the News

Heights elected officials said kind words about the late mayor in a ground-breaking ceremony last week.

This week, late Mayor of Chicago Heights Alex Lopez received the posthumous honor of having a new park named after him, located near Chicago Road between the Park District Recreational Center and the public library. Lopez's father was in attendance, as well as many city and park district officials that knew him. Representatives from Prairie State College and St. James Franciscan Health attended the ground-breaking as well, and were thanked by Park District Supt. Frank Perez for their support.
