Armed Car Thief Pistol-Whips Chicago Heights Man
The man sustained cuts to his lip and arm after the March 3 incident, police said.
A 53-year-old Chicago Heights man was robbed at gunpoint while in front of his home in the first block of Olympia Village, according to police.
The victim told police he was on his steps around 8 p.m. March 3 when two men approached him, according to a Chicago Heights police report. One man drew a black, semi-automatic handgun.
The gunman, who had told the victim to hand over his keys, struck him in the face with the gun and knocked him to the ground, according to police. The assailant also yanked the victim’s cell phone from his pocket while he was down.
Both men then ran to the victim’s 2003 Cadillac DeVille, which was parked in a nearby lot, and drove off toward Division Street.
The victim suffered cuts on his upper lip and forearm. He refused medical treatment. Registration information for the Cadillac was given to the department later that night.
No arrests were reported by police. The victim was only able to provide minimal information describing the attackers.
