UPDATE Bring On the Heat: Who Do You Love for Spicy Food?

This competition isn't for the faint of heart. What scorching sensations do you like to see on your plate? We want to know what readers consider the best spicy food in town.

UPDATED Tuesday, June 12 at midnight.

Congratulations to Lassen's Bar and Grill in Homewood for having the most loved spicy food in the area.

That's right! We asked, and you responded. With both the highest votes in our poll and the greatest amount of positive reviews, Lassen's wins this competition hands down.

So next time you're looking for a little more attitude than you normally get on your dinner plate,

———————————————————————————————————
In case you’re not familiar with our Readers’ Choice feature, here’s how it generally works.

It all starts on the Homewood-Flossmoor Patch and Chicago Heights Patch Facebook pages. We ask for input from our readers, you give us answers and we proceed from there.

With such a process, things inevitably turn out ... unexpectedly.

Yesterday, for instance, when we asked readers whether we should run a hot dog themed competition or a “beat the heat” competition, you gave us the answer: neither.

Well, not exactly, but several of you did suggest we do quite (rather contradictorily) a “best spicy food” competition. No, it's not "hottest food," merely, your favorite spicy snack.

Seems like a good enough idea to us.

PLEASE NOTE:

It’s unlikely that we’ll be able to include every restaurant in the area with a spicy food item on their menu in our poll. For that reason, we are counting user reviews and positive comments as worth five poll votes. The poll is locked, so if your favorite restaurant is missing from our list, leave a positive review of them in the comments section. It will automatically enter them into the running.

Here's some suggestions to get you thinking:

In Homewood or Flossmoor:

In Chicago Heights:

All of these places and more can be found in our local directory.

5th Quarter has THE BEST hot wings around. Cilantro has an awesome potato & chorizo enchilada. Eat Rice has delicious hot&sour soup and kung po chicken. Burrito Express makes a fine steak taco. Flossmoor's nachos are to die for. (Lassen's food is OK, but nothing to write home about.)

Liangs food is garbage, and they need to close, very dirty and nasty.

Smoke nq was the best around, But they didn't last.

I'm with "babyboomer", Lassen's has great bar food and the best wings in town. For spice, get the Hot Thai wings, traditional or boneless, and add a Code Red dipping to take it to whatever level you want.
