Marian Scholars, Habitat Help and a Meeting in Crete: Announced
A quick round up the top announcements of the week.
Heights Habitat for Humanity Offers Orientation Session
It's always good to know that Habitat for Humanity is out there trying to put roofs over the heads of people that need it. It's even better to see they want to make sure people actually know how to go about getting help, which is a key problem for some nonprofits. If you're interested in attending the orientation session for Habitat, visit the announcement and contact them. Spots are limited.
Crete Immigration Detention Center Meeting
While it isn't in Chicago Heights, residents have still been abuzz about plans for a detention center in Crete. The issues range from ethics to business-government relationships to public safety. A Patch reader posted this announcement to the site a week ago, and we would like to point out the excellent usage of Patch as a community bulletin board.
Marian Catholic Seniors Named Illinois State Scholars
These Marian Catholic High School students worked hard, and it shows. They are in the top ten percent in the state and now have the accolade to go with it. To add icing to the proverbial cake, five of these 48 awesome young people hail from Chicago Heights! Let's congratulate them for working diligently and seeing the fruits of their labor.
