Police Blotter: DUI Arrestee Flattens Tire in Front of Cops

MONDAY, AUG. 21
Edward D. Potocki, 28, of the 12800 block of Elm Street in Blue Island, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police stopped him near the intersection of Edgewood Street and 15h Street for striking a curb at a high rate of speed, according to the report. Potocki told police he had three beers earlier and admitted to striking a curb "a way's back" after police noticed he had a flat tire, according to the report. Police had Potocki take field sobriety tests before taking him into custody. He also was charged with improper lane usage and having a blood alcohol content level above .08.
SUNDAY, AUG. 20
A 49-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police she was in the basement of her Campbell Avenue home when she heard a door upstairs slam shut. The woman then went into another room in the house and noticed a window was open with the screen to the window on the ground, according to the report. The woman said she never saw anyone and was not missing any of her belongings from inside the house.
Timothy R. Griggs, 25, of the first block of East 13th Street, was arrested and charged with domestic assault after his separated wife told police they were in a verbal argument when he made threats. The woman said Griggs initially stopped her from calling police by clenching his fists in an aggressive manner and saying "I'll kill you if you call the police! I'll kill the kids if you call the police!" according to the report.
Rodolfo Gonzalez, 24, of the 1200 block of River Drive in Calumet City, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police stopped him near the intersection of 14th Street and Emerald Avenue for speeding, according to the report. After police smelled alcohol on Gonzalez and saw an open bottle of Corona beer behind the passenger side seat of his car, Gonzalez said he was coming from a party at some girl's house and that he only had two beers, according to the report. After taking field sobriety tests, Gonzalez was taken into custody, police said. He was also charged with speeding, illegal transportation of alcohol and having a blood alcohol content level above .08, according to police.
Leo Williams, 25, of the 1400 block of East End Avenue, was arrested and charged with trespassing after an employee of ZZ Foods told police Williams came to the store harassing him after being told not to return there, according to the report. Williams was also harassing customers as they went in and out of the store, according to the report.
A "highly intoxicated" 58-year-old Chicago Heights man told police after he let a 25-year-old man borrow his cell phone, the man fled the area in an unknown direction. Police checked the area but did not located the phone thief, according to the report.
