Police Blotter: Heights Woman Burglarized While Showering

SUNDAY, APRIL 29

Shower-Time Thief

A 69-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police she took a shower around 7:45 a.m. and came out to notice several items were missing from atop the dresser in her bedroom. The missing items included a set of keys to her house and vehicle, a cell phone and around $50. The woman accused her ex-husband, who lives in a separate part of the house, of stealing the items, according to the report. Her ex denied any involvement, police said. 

Bad Place to Pee

Miles J. Dunlap, 26, of the 900 block of East 190 Place in Glenwood, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct when police saw him urinating on the building housing Little Caesar's Pizza on Joe Orr Road in plain view of customers and children, according to the report.

Man Attacks iPhone?

Police were dispatched to a 25th Street home, being told there was an "open 911 line," according to the report. When police arrived, a 24-year-old Chicago Heights woman said she had been arguing with her boyfriend and attempted to call 911 when he took her iPhone from her and broke it, according to the report. After the woman told the boyfriend the police were coming, he removed the screen from one of the windows, police said. The boyfriend, Deandra Johnson, 22, of the 200 block of East 25th Street, was arrested and charged with criminal damage to property.

Stolen Gazing Ball

A 56-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police sometime between 9 p.m. and April 28 and 9:50 a.m. April 29 someone removed a 10-inch blue glass gazing ball from atop a stand in her front yard. The ball is valued at $15, according to the report.

Attempted Purse Snatching

A 26-year-old Steger woman told police she was at Discount Village on Chicago Road when she dropped her purse without noticing. A 45-year-old man picked up the purse and attempted to leave the store, but the woman confronted him first, according to the report. The man then threw the purse and fled in a tan Toyota Camry, the woman told police.
