Back to School: Registration in Full Swing Around Chicago Heights

The much anticipated first day of school draws near for Heights students, but don't be tardy with registration.

 

Better track down those school supplies, because the first day of school is drawing near for students throughout Chicago Heights.

Bloom Township D206

Registration

Registration was already conducted for Bloom Township District 206, but parents with questions can contact the district through the district website

Ice Cream Social

Parents of incoming freshmen are invited to an ice cream social on Thursday, Aug. 9 at 7 p.m. in the Bloom High Workman Auditorium. Those in attendance can expect to learn about various school programs and how to start the year strong, says Liz Santiago. Girls Volleyball 

Girls Volleyball Tryouts for freshmen and sophmores are set for Wednesday, Aug. 8, Thursday, Aug. 9, and Friday, Aug. 10 from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Bloom Trail High School, in the gym. Varsity Tryouts are scheduled for Aug 8-10 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Bloom Trail High School in the fieldhouse.

Freshmen First Day

For both Bloom High School and Bloom Trail, Tuesday, Aug. 14 is the first day of school for freshmen. (The rest of the high school student body joins them on Wednesday, Aug. 15.)

Course Fees

To get the lowdown on course fees, District 206 parents can check the school's website and can pay online through the District 206 webstore

Chicago Heights D170

Registration

For Chicago Heights School District 170, summer will last a bit longer. Registration for the district's neighborhood schools is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 13, from noon to 2 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.; Tuesday, Aug. 14, from 8 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and from noon to 2:00 p.m.

First Day

Aug. 22 is the first day of school.

Brookwood D167

Registration

All students in Brookwood School District 167 will go through registration on Aug. 14-15 at Longwood Elementary School, 441 Longwood Drive in Glenwood.

Book Fees Waived; Gym Suits

A little good news, parents: the book/materials fee for the 2012-2013 school year has been waived. However, junior high gym suits are $22, and a student planner is $8.

Back to School Bash

The annual Glenwood Back-to-School Bash is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 19 from 2 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Brookwood Junior High School, 201 Glenwood-Lansing Road in Glenwood. The first 200 students through the door will receive a gift bag of school supplies.

First Day of School

The first day of school is Friday, Aug. 24 and will last just one hour, from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. The first full day of school is Monday, August 27. School supply lists for Brookwood Junior High, Brookwood Middle School, Hickory Bend Elementary and Longwood Elementary are available on the District 167 website

Ford Heights D169

Registration

Ford Heights School District 169's registration was held Aug. 3-4.

First Day of School

Wednesday, Aug. 15 is the first day of school with an early dismissal of 10 a.m. followed by a 1 p.m. dismissal on Aug. 16. August 17 will be the first full day of school. Parents and others with questions about registration can check out the school website for contact information. 

Flossmoor D161

Registration

New student registration and residency verification for Flossmoor District 161 is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 9, at Parker Junior High from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. For parents with children at Flossmoor Hills, Heather Hill, Serena Hills, Western Avenue elementary schools or Parker Junior High can check out the District 161 website for information about state registration requirements, the start date for elementary students and more.
