Teen Charged in Murders Could Go Home, Attorney Says: Court Watch

Also, five teens are facing an indictment in connection to the shooting death of a 17-year-old in a Chicago Heights park, and White Sox catcher Carlton Fisk's court date was postponed.

After sitting in jail for more than a year, one teen charged in the robbery and beating death of a Palos township couple could get the chance to go home if a judge rescinds a no-bond order.

A bond hearing has been set for Mohammad Salahat, 18, on Monday in a Bridgeview courtroom with his defense attorney set to argue that a psychological evaluation will show Salahat is non-violent and won't be a danger to anyone if he is released.

Salahat is charged with murder in connection with stabbing and beating death of John and Maria Granat, along with three alleged accomplices: Christopher Wyma, 18; Ehab Qasem, 20; and the couple's son, John Granat, 18.

The four men have been in custody without bond since the incident.

Patch rounds up the Southland's major criminal and civil cases being heard in Cook County and Will County courts this week.

There is no way a person linked to all of these terrible atrocious murders should even walk out of jail ever! He has contributed to a crime and done; he derserves life. Who else is this person going to kill before our government is going to say; oh we should have kept him in in the first place! This poor couple was bludgeoned to death. NO THEY SHOULD NEVER, AND NOT EVEN THIS KID EVER LEAVE CUSTODY!!!!!! He is a threat to our society

Now now now. This guy is a victim. He was probably poked as a baby with a diaper pin. We must have compassion for this fine young man. He didn't mean it.

"...the former Red and White Sox star has yet to make it into a Joliet courtroom..." because he's too drunk to remember how to get there?

December 17, e? New Lenox? I should hire a kid for 10 bucks to pretend he's my son and show up there holding up a soiled Sox jersey and a marker and call out, "Oh, Carlton! Would you mind? It's for the little guy!"
