Wife of Slain Ford Plant Worker Says She Was Kidnapped and Brought to Chicago Heights
Police found Eugene White Jr., 56, dead in his home Monday. He'd been shot three times.
A 56-year-man who worked at the Ford plant in Chicago Heights was found dead in his Lynwood home Monday morning, and his wife told police she was kidnapped.
NBC 5 Chicago News reported in its 4:30 p.m. broadcast that Cecilia White was found unharmed in Chicago Heights.
Eugene White Jr. was found dead in a rear bedroom of his home in the 19800 block of Orchard Avenue in Lynwood.
Police said he was shot once in the head and twice in the chest.
Carolyn Wiggins, of Riverdale, White’s sister-in-law, said the couple had been married at least 15 years, and that Eugene had coached a basketball team at Living Grace Church in Lynwood.
“They are a blessed couple, a joy to know,” Wiggins said. “A good Christian family. If you met him now, you would like him. He’s a down-to-earth man.”
Wiggins said White worked at the Ford plant in Chicago Heights.
The Lynwood Police Department and the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force are investigating and following up leads.
Cecilia White told Cook County Sheriff's Police that she had been kidnapped and brought to Chicago Heights. The sheriff's police notified Lynwood police at about 3 a.m. Monday, according to NWITimes.com.
