The Drama Group is back with another amazing story. This time it's all about continuing to dream.
Bad things can happen when you dream. That doesn't mean you should stop. At least that's the message coming out of the Drama Group's latest performance. This weekend, May 4 to May 6, at the Bloom High School Workman Auditorium, the Drama Group of Chicago Heights will perform Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd-Weber. The Drama Group's Tina Zagone was kind enough to post a synopsis of the musical to our events calendar: Joseph is the tale of a dreamer who is the favorite son of his father Jacob, but because of Jacob’s obvious bias, Joseph becomes the target for the festering jealousy of his eleven brothers. When Jacob presents Joseph with a many colored coat, the brothers have had enough, spiriting him…

A Pulitzer Prize-winning drama starts its last weekend in Chicago Heights this Thursday
In case you missed it last week, the Drama Group will be presenting Rabbit Hole, written by David Lindsay-Abaire, through this weekend. The groups latest drama, directed by Tony Labriola, tackles the power of death as seen through the eyes of five different people. The Drama Group's Tina Zagone was kind enough to include a synopsis for the show with the Patch event listing: RABBIT HOLE takes place in a comfortable suburban home, where five ordinary, everyday people each find ways to live on and through the death of a young boy to an automobile accident. The mother and father, sister, grandmother and the teenager who drove the car, deal with loss, heartbreak and forgiveness. The Rabbit Hole is running from April 19 to April 22 at the Drama …

Tina Zagone of the Drama Group in Chicago Heights, has been very active on our events calendar in the past. This time she would like the community to know that for the Drama Group's next production, "Rabbit Hole," actress Claire Smyth will be pulling double duty by acting on stage and cooking up sweets in the back. Learn more about this amazing young woman's dual roles by taking a look at the announcement. Prairie State College let us know about a bunch of events they have coming up in April, all involving the most environmentally friendly holiday I can think of. Institutions can make good use of Patch by using it as a way to keep the community informed about what's next on their schedule. To learn about Prairie State's April Earth Week …

New Lenox resident Denise Du Vernay considers herself a "Simpsonologist" and a friend of the family.
Last night’s milestone 500th episode of The Simpsons had special significance for me: It’s more than just a TV show, more than just a cartoon. I’ve argued that message at length in libraries, bookstores, colleges and the Wisconsin Historical Society. I’ve been interviewed by Milwaukee’s Fox morning show, public radio, and magazines in Wisconsin and South Dakota. I will speak at the New Lenox Public Library about The Simpsons and my research April 26. Twice last year I visited Fox, including an orchestral recording, a voice recording and a tour of Film Roman, where I met many of the artists and scene planners who work tirelessly to make my favorite thing. Although they are the manifestation of much hard work and dedication, I consider my …

Hi, Noah, You're right . . . it was more ruminations on the event of the show reaching 500, not the episode itself. Sorry if you felt mislead by the headline. (The piece was actually mostly written before the episode even aired). As far as the episode goes, I enjoyed the premise, especially the idea of a secret town meeting. It's always interesting when the family leaves town because …   more ›
