The Village of Homewood Fire Department is composed of 19 full-time staff members and 31 paid-on-call or volunteer members. Homewood firefighters provide emergency medical service to the community with three fully equipped mobile intensive care ambulances, two of which are housed in the Homewood fire station and one that is co-owned with the villages of Flossmoor and Hazel Crest. The Village of Homewood Fire Department also offers fire and injury prevention instruction and burn safety education for the younger members of the community, whether they are kindergarteners to seniors in high school.
