[Bridgeview, IL]  Numerous staff and faculty members of Northwestern College participated in the Bridgeview Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s 2013 Pen Pal Program with Bridgeview School’s fourth grade classes. Multiple businesses and Chamber members of the Bridgeview community participated, providing pen pals for approximately eighty five (85) fourth graders during the fall quarter of the school year.

A number of letters were exchanged between the children and Northwestern College staff and faculty, as well as with Chamber Members and employees from businesses such as Walmart, Archer Bank, and Bridgeview Bank.  The program culminated in a pizza party on December 10th where the children finally got to meet their pen pals and share pizza, punch, popcorn and ice cream.  The food for the party was donated by Northwestern College, Walmart, Archer Bank and Culvers.

The Bridgeview Chamber of Commerce and Industry has hosted this event for a number of years, with Northwestern College being a steady participant in the program.  According to some Northwestern College staff, they felt like rock stars when they entered the room and met their 4th grade pen pals for the first time.  The children were extremely excited to finally meet them. Overall, Chamber members were impressed this year with the quality of writing in the fourth grade class.  It is a program that is enjoyed by many each time it is held!
