Can't Live Without D & D Foods and Country Squire: Facebook Feedback

Two local businesses got pats on the back from our Facebook friends this week.

It's always good to feel needed, right? Well, two longtime Chicago Heights businesses can carry that honor, thanks to comments from our friends on Facebook.

We asked a question: What’s one small business in town you can’t live without and why?

Here are some of the responses:

Cathy Cada: Country Squire because I can run in and out without having to deal with crowds!

Michele Lileikis: D&D Foods!

Stefania Cipolla: I agree with all of the above

Sandy Yacono: D&D Foods for sure!

Looks like D & D Foods and Country Squire Foods better not go anywhere because at least a few Heights residents can't live without them.

Nickel for Your Thoughts?

Knowing we have some pretty opinionated Patch readers on Facebook, we posted a link to our story about the Cook County guns-and-ammo tax and asked a pretty direct question:

Cook County would get a nickel for every bullet sold. Hmmm. Do you think this extra cost will make people less inclined to shoot each other?

Most of our Facebook friends were skeptical of any positive effect the tax might have on gun violence stats. Here's what a few of them said:

Norm Eisengart: I think it is a sham. Criminals do not think a second to steal a gun and put a bullet into a poor clerk at 7-11. Why would a nickel tax make a lick of difference? All these scare tactics that guns and John Q. Public with guns are the problem is the real problem.

Peter M. Johnson: Nope, but the burial fund would be increased. Besides, the cops could up gun to match the bad guys.

Theresa Ferguson: It was for revenue!

The Tally

We now have more than 1,080 Facebook fans and I can't thank are supporters enough.
