Chicago Heights Native a Living Piece of D-Day History

He dropped into France ahead of the main invasion force to disrupt and distract the German troops.

Louis Venditti was a 22-year-old Army paratrooper when he dropped into France on D-Day 70 years ago. The Chicago Heights native told his story several years ago to Daily Southtown reporter Lauren Fitzpatrick.

Now 92 and living in South Chicago Heights, he's one of the few men alive as the 70th anniversary of the D-Day invasion came around Friday, June 6.
