Chicago Heights Parade and Father's Day Gifts: Announced

Chicago Heights will be having its annual Summer parade on Saturday July 2nd . This type of event draws large crowds and as a result, promotes your business. This type of free marketing is wonderful for new or small businesses or organizations with limited advertising budgets. We would like to take this time to invite you to participate in this year’s 2011 Hometown Parade. This year’s theme is: Patriotic and celebrating St. James Hospital’s 100th Anniversary!
Chicago Heights vehicle stickers can be purchased at City Hall in the Clerk’s Office, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, July 23 and July 30, from 9 a.m. to noon.
City Clerk Lori Wilcox is encouraging residents to purchase their vehicle stickers early to avoid the inconvenience of long lines or face late penalties. The deadline to display the sticker has been extended to July 31.

Remember that buying the sticker is just one part of the process. All vehicle stickers must be applied to the inside of your windshield in the lower right-hand corner. Failure to do so may result in a ticket for non-display.
The Sheilah A. Doyle Foundation is accepting camper & volunteer applications through July 15, 2011, for participation in the first ever Comfort Zone Camp in Illinois. The camp will be from September 30 to October 2 at Camp Manitoqua in Frankfort.

Children at the Steger-South Chicago Heights Library recently made crafts in anticipation of Father's Day.
Alex Navarro, Amber Mulder and other friends recently helped to plant a butterfly garden at the Steger-South Chicago Heights Public Library.
Patrons including Jada Pena also released some of the butterflies raised at the library.
