Fighting Back: Black Belt Beauty Queen Overcomes Bullying, Teaches Youth

In an attempt to more accurately capture the amazing talents and commitments of our Remarkable Residents, we have decided to add more multimedia elements to the stories. We started this new technique with Cynthia Thompson, a former Miss Black Illinois with an eighth-degree black belt and a passion for teaching.

We kicked off a new service last week, in which we publish death notices that also provide the funeral home and viewing hours of the recently deceased. Sad as it is, we think this feature will useful to many people who may not have known someone they once knew had passed away.
