Heights Residents Ride the Night Away

Ald. Josh Deabel took some of his constituents out for a bike ride around the fourth ward for National Night Out.

They came in every shape, size, colors and makes. From Schwinn to Huffy brands and everything in between.

Residents and former residents joined fourth ward Ald. Josh Deabel along with his family on a bike ride around the ward. The Chicago Heights police handed out blue bracelets, stickers and other fun items to celebrate National Night Out.

The near 90 degree temperatures did not stop the large group from taking their bikes for a spin.

Chicago Heights Police Chief Michael Camilli didn't need a bike, he ran the whole gamut. As Alderman Deabel looked around at the large turnout, he was excited.

"It's a hot night and look at this," he said as he looked over to a nice crowd gathering at St.Paul's parking lot. "It's a good thing for the community. I appreciate St. Paul's for letting us have the event here as well as the Chicago Heights Police Department."

The police department escorted the bike riders as well as two officers joined the biking brigade. Ald. Deabel thanked the bikers for coming out.

"It doesn't matter if it's hot or cold, it's a chance to get together as a community," he said. "I enjoy meeting the residents and talking to them. We need things in town like this because we need good exposure. It's what unites us as a community."
