Keep Your Pipes from Freezing

As temperatures sink to dangerously low levels, the risk of bursting frozen pipes is on the rise. 

The good news is, you can help prevent that from happening. Here’s a list of tips from the Olympia Fields Police Department to keep your pipes flowing throughout this dangerously cold weather.

• Eliminate drafts near plumbing work by sealing any leaks
• Open cabinet doors to plumbing to allow pipes to warm up
• Run your faucets often, especially if the plumbing runs along the outside wall (you can also let the water trickle from the faucet)
• Make sure your home is properly heated
