Pit Bull Stuffed in Rubbermaid Container, Dumped Outside Shelter

We just don't understand why someone would do this.

A volunteer at South Suburban Humane Society in Chicago Heights noticed something out of place Friday.

A Rubbermaid container was placed outside the shelter—inside, a beautiful, 6-month-old female pit bull.

"Sometimes our hearts hurt so much we have to share it with you," shelter staff wrote on its Facebook page

The pup—dubbed "Pandora" by staff—appears friendly and "so far very healthy!

"She's ecstatic to see all of us and has smothered everyone with kisses."

Patch has reached out to the shelter for adoption information on Pandora. Check back for more.

South Suburban Humane Society is an animal and pet adoption rescue located at 1103 W. End Ave., in Chicago Heights.
