The Rev. Lawrence Blackful Helps to Make Government Better

Outspoken Heights Resident Art Wiggins explains how Blackful organized a meeting of minds.

Recently I had the pleasure of having a private meeting with President Henry Drake.

From my comments about him on Patch, I must say, the meeting started off a little tense. Nevertheless we were cordial, and discussed his and my position on choices made by him and the school board.

I stand firm in my belief that the only way we can have good government is if . Additionally, we must have diverse and varied individuals that make up our community leaders, not factions, neither being of one racial group or of one common interest.

Drake provided me with a State of Illinois corporation filing, offering proof to the current ownership of his late father’s bus company. I tried to explain that while ownership of a company does not disconnect a person’s interest in the financial position of an entity, it would be better to see a CLEAR disconnection from those interest and government.

I thank Rev. Lawrence Blackful for hosting and mediating the meeting. I believe that our meeting went well. I believe with a few corrective changes the community can trust the decisions of board president Drake. I look forward to more conversation with him in concern with our community.
