Ed Asner is Coming to the Southland

To older generations, he’s known as Lou Grant from the Mary Tyler Moore Show. To youngsters, he may be a bit more recognizable as Carl Fredricksen from Pixar’s award-winning animation “UP.” But on April 17, 83-year-old actor Ed Asner will be performing the role as former President Franklin Delano Roosevelt at Governors State University Center for Performing Arts.

“Asner as FDR” is a dramatic interpretation of FDR’s White House years, including the Depression, pre-World War II and the war years. It’s based off the original four-time Tony Award winning Broadway hit “Sunrise at Campobello.”

The performance begins at 7 p.m.
