She Loves Me is a beloved little musical gem that is one of five adaptations of the original story Parfumerie (by Hungarian playwright Miklos Laszlo).  Fans of classic film will recognize the story from the 1940 James Stewart/Margaret Sullivan film The Shop Around the Corner or the 1949 Judy Garland/Van Johnson musical In the Good Old Summertime.  The story would resurface yet again in 1998 as the basis for the motion picture You’ve Got Mail starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan.  Nominated for numerous Tony Awards when it was first produced in 1963 and again with its 1993 revival, She Loves Me earned the Drama Desk Award, Critics Circle Award and the Laurence Olivier Award (London) for Best Musical Revival, with several stars collecting individual Tony’s as well.

Populated with true, likable characters and songs you will go home whistling, She Loves Me is funny, intelligent, honest and sentimental.  It’s a warm romantic comedy with an endearing innocence and a touch of Old World elegance, charm and nostalgia – yet it’s as universal and relevant as ever in this age of internet dating.
