Looking for a Good Time Tonight? Consider 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show'

The YKYWI Acting Troupe is bringing back "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" for a midnight showing in Park Forest. Get your tickets!

Once upon a time, you could find a midnight showing of the camp classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show at movie theaters across the Chicago area.

Audience members would dress up as their favorite character or bring in toilet paper, squirt guns, rice, lighters or other themed items and use them or shower the audience with them at pivotal points in the movie.

It was harmless. It was messy. Most of all, it was fun.

Then the theaters that were open to the craziness disappeared, and Brad and Janet were hopelessly caught in a black hole.

The YKYWI Acting Troupe is trying to bring back that fun at the Holiday Star theater in Park Forest with a midnight shadowcast performance Saturday, May 14, of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

The show starts at midnight and doors will open at 11.

A shadowcast, for the uninitiated, is a showing of the movie complete with fanatics in the house who dress up and perform along with the movie.

Such shows are definitely participatory. If you don't want to partake, stay home. On the other hand, if knocking down the fourth wall is your cup of tea and you don't mind doing the "Time Warp" in the aisles, check it out.

Tickets are $8 and survival kits (with some of the items mentioned earlier) will be $1. Don't ask, just buy one and enjoy the show.
