Businesses Donate Sales to Cancer Support Center: Business Comings & Goings

A look at new businesses coming into town and a fond farewell to those that have, for whatever reason, called it quits.

The Art Corner, 18703 Dixie Highway, and Thomas Photographic, 18705 Dixie Highway, both in Homewood, will donate 15 percent of all sales on Friday, Nov. 4, and Saturday, Nov. 5, to the Cancer Support Center in Homewood and Mokena.

The two-day event will also have live music from Kenya and Lisa Martirena.

Zarlengo’s Closes for Season

Zarlengo's Italian Ice and Gelato, 257 Joe Orr Road in Chicago Heights, closed for the season on Sunday. The shop will reopen next spring.

Marquette Bank Promotes Homewood Woman

Cathy Thomas, of Homewood, has been named the new Neighborhood Bank Manager for Marquette Bank’s Oak Forest Location at 5700 W. 159th St. Thomas has more than 10 years tenure with Marquette Bank and most recently managed the original flagship location at 63rd Street and Western Avenue in Chicago. She  started her neighborhood banking career more than 16 years ago with Talman Bank.

Now Open in Flossmoor

The village welcomed two new businesses this summer.

Clinton Kelly Opening Store in Orland

Fashion guru Clinton Kelly will be at Orland Square Mall on Friday, Nov. 4, to open his own custom tailoring store Perfect Fit by Clinton Kelly at the Stitch It store.

Kelly, who co-hosts What Not to Wear on TLC and The Chew on ABC, will arrive at 2:30 p.m. At 5 p.m., he will provide one-minute style consultations to the first 100 people to visit the store. The store opens at 10 a.m.

The new store is a joint venture between Kelly and Stitch It to combine the efforts of expert stylists with skilled tailors. According to a news release, Perfect Fit works with both men and women and can work its magic with clothes just bought, that have hung in the closet for years or were found at a thrift store.

Halloween Deal

is holding a Kids Eat Free promotion on Monday, Oct. 31. Kids 12 and under can order for free from the Kids Menu. Two free kids for every paid adult entrée.
