Business Comings & Goings: N'awlins Crab House to Reopen Under New Ownership

A look at new businesses coming into town and a fond farewell to those that have, for whatever reason, called it quits.

N’awlins Crab House has closed at 200 Dixie Highway in Chicago Heights but never fear seafood lovers, the restaurant is expected to reopen soon under new ownership.

The old phone number has been disconnected but the chain’s website says the Chicago Heights location is reopening soon.

Fire Hits Former Clothing Store

The recent fire at 2200 Chicago Road in Chicago Heights underscored that the TAGS clothing store had closed recently. The only tenant in the building was a woman who was injured escaping from the fire.

Cardinal Fitness Gets New Name, Location

The at 3322 Vollmer Road in Olympia Fields has been renamed Charter Fitness and will be moving soon around the corner to 3420 Vollmer Road next to Bizio’s Fresh Market.

The conversion from Cardinal to Charter began Sept. 1 and is happening at all 10 Southland locations.

The company said the changeover will not affect memberships but will offer members a wider range of services to members such as personal trainers.

Speakers Bureau to Empower Women

Two tracks of three workshops each, a continental breakfast and a Marketplace, all designed to help women in both their business and personal lives, will take place Thursday, Sept. 29, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.  at the Women’s Empowerment Event, hosted by the Chicago Southland Speakers Bureau at the Oak Forest campus of South Suburban College, 16333 S. Kilbourn Ave.

The Business Track speakers include Emily Nail and Renee Maxard of American Chartered Bank will speak about Your Money/Your Life. Rebecca Palumbo of Rollins Palumbo Creative will address 24/7 Networking: Using LinkedIn for Success, and Lori Klinka, President of Dramatic Impact, will present Communication Transformation.
