Business Comings & Goings: Ticketmaster Now Available at Walmart

A look at new businesses coming into town and a fond farewell to those that have, for whatever reason, called it quits.

Fans of family shows, concerts and sporting events can now buy their tickets at the Walmart store in nearby Matteson or Glenwood or any of 77 Walmarts in the Chicago area that are now offering tickets to Ticketmaster events.

Fans can use touch screens in the store’s electronics department to buy tickets to any Ticketmaster live events. Once the desired event is selected by the fan, a Walmart employee helps complete the transaction and immediately prints the tickets.

"By integrating ticketing into Walmart stores, we are able to offer fans this very convenient way to learn about upcoming events, purchase and take home tickets without leaving their neighborhood," said Nathan Hubbard, CEO of Ticketmaster, in a release.  "In addition, Ticketmaster will continue to work closely with our clients to create exclusive high value offers for Walmart customers."

Jewel Closes in Olympia Fields

There was no pardon from the governor and the Jewel Food Store at 2500 Lincoln Highway in Olympia Fields shut its doors for the last time recently. The Osco pharmacy shut down operations more than a month ago. The TCF Bank at that location was scheduled to stay open through October.
