Sangamon Park Celebrates National Watermelon Day

Did you know there are around 300 varieties of watermelon in the U.S. and Mexico alone?  That's right- they come in red, pink, white or yellow.  Watermelons are usually quite large. In fact, the Guinness Book of World Records confirm that the heaviest watermelon weighed 262 pounds!  On National Watermelon Day, we celebrate a summer favorite.  Compromised of 92% water, its no wonder why this fruit is a refreshing picnic staple! Visit Commissioner Jessica Garner on Friday, August 3rd at Sangamon Park.
