Lincoln Mall Operations Handed to Receiver

A Chicago company will now take over the operations of Lincoln Mall.

In a Thursday court order, Lincoln Mall owner Michael Kohan's operational responsibilities were removed and placed in the hands of appointed receiver Collateral Trustee of Chicago, according to the Sun-Times Media.

The mall will remain open while "the most life-threatening conditions" are addressed by the receiver, according to a statement from the Village of Matteson. Collateral Trustee of Chicago will also be responsible for making long-term repair plans, although the village already extended an invitation to Kohan to help in the planning.

In compliance with court orders last week, Kohan wired $100,000 into an escrow account on Thursday morning and paid $21,000 in outstanding water bills to the Village of Matteson.
