Poll Shows Halvorson Within Striking Distance in 2nd District Race

A new poll released today by Debbie Halvorson's campaign for Congress shows an extremely competitive race forming in Illinois' Second District.

A new poll released today by Debbie Halvorson's campaign for Congress shows an extremely competitive race forming in Illinois' Second District. Despite his near-universal name recognition, the poll shows that Jesse Jackson, Jr. is never able to crack 50% of the vote against the lesser-known Halvorson—a clear indicator of electoral trouble for any incumbent.

In addition to Jackson's relatively low initial vote share, the survey results indicate that his support is exceptionally soft. When voters hear brief, balanced paragraphs describing the two candidates, Halvorson pulls into a five-point lead. Voters are clearly looking for an alternative to the incumbent, and rapidly move to Debbie Halvorson when they hear more information about her.

“These results reflect exactly what I have been hearing every day when I’m out meeting voters: people are ready for a change," said Halvorson. "In his sixteen years in Congress, Jesse Jackson, Jr. hasn't been able to deliver on the issues most important to people here. We need innovative approaches that bring jobs back to our area, and we need a member of Congress who puts the district first – not himself.  On both counts, Jesse Jackson, Jr. has failed his constituents. I know how hard it is for families to make ends meet – especially in times like these – and in Congress, I'll work every day to get our economy moving again."

The poll of 400 likely voters was conducted January 10 – 12, 2012.

I must let the reading public know what transpired at the forum last night at St. John. A gentleman was troubled over an incident with his child. In his question he noted that he was having a problem etc. Anthony W. Williams offered to help him stating he didn't have to wait until being elected. No one else stood up to offer this man assistance until AFTER Anthony W. Williams, a true public servant, volunteered. Before casting your vote, please visit www.voteanthonywwilliams.com and compare the others to someone who does not remain silent on the issues, the candidate who will not be bought, the candidate who the majority of candidates said they would vote for if they themselves were not running, and the man who will bring the seat back to the people, Anthony W. Williams; brought pension tampering to light and 40k retirees got refunds, helped the late Rocky Clark keep insurance, Robbins library to stay open to the public, fought unfairness in jobs and contracts and against front companies. Will call for a moratorium on foreclosures and high energy costs, expungements for non violent felons and much more visit website and compare. This is who our votes should be cast for. A man who has been helping people for years because he is a servant of the people. Williams is the candidate the majority of candidates said they would vote for if they themselves were not running. God bless you Mr. Anthony Williams. I hope all see your worth and the benefit of you in office. God bless

check out Hopkins Park, Debbie was their senator like Hutchinson is now. For over 40 years no help for the poor and down trodden. These folks have no infrastructure, no high speed internet. You can't find them with a GPS. They heat their homes with wood and propane. How is that for representation? None. Be careful who you vote fore. What looks good too you is not always good for you. visit www.voteanthonywwilliams.com and compare to all. He is a true public servant
