Accomplishments for Local Students: Announced

Cornell University is pleased to announce Kathleen Halpin, of Olympia Fields, graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture and Life Sciences with the Class of 2011 during Commencement ceremonies in Ithaca, N.Y., on May 29.

Ariel Bray and Amanda Klopp, both of Chicago Heights, were named to the Dean's List for the Spring 2011 semester at Dominican University in River Forest.

To qualify for the prestigious Dean's List, students must achieve a semester grade point average of 3.8 (on a 4.0 scale), based on a full-time enrollment of 12 credit hours.

Bray is a graduate of Homewood-Flossmoor Community High School. Klopp is a graduate of Marian Catholic High School.

In addition to recently earning her Bachelor’s in Social Work from Governors State University, Tamara Lewis, of Chicago, was also awarded the Newman Civic Fellows Award.

Lewis received the honor from the Campus Compact, an organization of colleges and universities dedicated to furthering campus service and service-learning in higher education. The Newman Civic Fellows Award honors college students whose actions demonstrate their role as public problem solvers and civic leaders.
