Boneless Chops With a Hint of Apple: Good Grilling

These pork chops have a taste that will stick in your head for a couple of days.

This week's grilling recipe is fairly easy and could be done as part of a weekend barbecue or for a weeknight dinner (just give yourself a day's notice for the chops to marinate). Here's what you'll need:

  • 4 boneless pork chops
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • one green apple
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp celery flakes
  • 1/2 tsp lemon juice

Prep Time

You'll take all the above ingredients – except for the pork chops and the apple – and combine them in a sauce pan. Then chop the apple into small pieces (about the size of your index fingernail) and add them to the mix. Let the sauce simmer on the stove for about ten minutes, stirring frequently.

Take the pork chops out of the bag. Save the marinade for later.

Let your grill get good and hot, around 300 degrees. Sear the chops on each side until they are brown. If using a gas grill, lower the heat. If using a charcoal grill, move the meat away from the hottest coals.

Let the chops cook for eight to ten minutes on each side, closing the cover if you want a more smokey flavor. While they are cooking, brush more of the marinade on the chops.

Take the chops off the grill and let them sit under a foil tent for a few minutes before serving.
