Chicago Heights Community Day Festival Promotes Unity, Peace

The day-long Chicago Heights Community Day Festival, hosted by the We Are Concerned Organization, takes place Saturday, May 18. The event will feature family fun and services to attendees throughout the day.

It's almost time again for Chicago Heights residents to celebrate their pride in the community and come together for a day of family fun, at the Chicago Heights Community Day Festival. This year, the festival features the tag line, 'Community + Unity = Peace,' and takes place Saturday, May 18, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Smith Park, at the intersection of Ashland Avenue and Route 30.

During the day-long event, residents will be able to take part in a basketball camp, a double dutch tournament, face painting and enjoy a performance from the Jessie White Tumblers.

Also during the festival, attendees will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from the Ford Heights Boys & Girls Club, the Cook County State's Attorney Community Justice Centers, the Clerk of the Circuit Court Expungement Services, the Cease Fire Organization and more.

The festival is free to attend and will kick off with a Unity Walk at 9 a.m. at the Chicago Heights Park District that will culminate at Smith Park.
