Police Blotter: Brawlers Look to 'Keep it Real'

Chicago Heights police reports, Feb. 17-18

SATURDAY, FEB. 18

Domestic Batteries

Victor Ramirez, 22, of the 300 block of 23rd Street in Chicago Heights was charged with domestic battery. Police said Ramirez was arguing with a woman inside his home around 8 p.m. when he grabbed her hair and slammed her head repeatedly on the ground. She refused medical treatment.

Approximately four hours later, another man was accused of punching a woman in the nose inside his home following an argument. Eric T. Johnson, 49, of the 0-100 block of Main Street was charged with domestic battery.

FRIDAY, FEB. 17

Retail Theft

Frederick L. Burke, 39, of the 500 block of Davis Street in Park Forest was charged with retail theft. Security at a store in the 500 block of 14th Street told police Burke hid diapers and other items in his stroller and walked out the door around 4 p.m.

Criminal Trespass

Ricky Stevenson, 42, of no registered address, was charged with criminal trespass to property. An employee at a store in the 200 block of 14th Street told police Stevenson had been warned on prior occasions not to come in the store. He said they called police after Stevenson showed up around 7:30 p.m. and refused to leave.

Brawlers 'Keep it Real'

Two women and a juvenile were arrested and accused of fighting in the 1200 block of Washington Street around 10:30 p.m.

Ashley A. Cowley, 19, of the 1900 block of Racine Avenue in Chicago and a 17-year-old girl were charged with battery for allegedly striking a woman. When questioned, Cowley reportedly told a police officer: “I’m going to keep it real with you. She wants to fight, so we came here to fight.”

Edna M. Hatten, 51, of the 1300 block of Center Avenue in Chicago Heights was charged with assault for allegedly waving a box cutter and threatening the victim.
