Five Things You Need to Know this Week: July 25-29

Introducing a brand new weekly series where we give you a little peek into what to expect from Chicago Heights Patch.

1. No Meeting in the Fields

While the Olympia Fields Village Board of Trustees typically meets on the second and fourth Mondays of each month, they will not be doing so tonight. So if you were planning on going, stay in, relax and maybe watch Gordon Ramsey yell "It's raw!" and throw salmon at people instead.

3. Get Your Vehicle Sticker

Chicago Heights residents, if you haven't got a 2011 vehicle sticker from the City Clerk's office, you have until next Monday before penalties are applied. Save yourself some cash and make your way over to .

4. Learn More about PSC's New Pre-Apprenticeship

Prairie State College will be kicking off a six-week Building Trades, Painting, and Drywall Pre-Apprenticeship Program, but first the college is offering a free orientation this Friday for anyone interested in learning more about it. It will be from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Conference Center Auditorium.

5. Kindle, Nook, iPod, Smart Phone

The Steger-South Chicago Heights Public Library has a pretty cool event coming up this Wednesday. Folks from Best Buy's Geek Squad will be stopping by to show us how to get the most out of our nifty space-age gadgets. I'm sure plenty of us could benefit from a crash course like that.
