Bloomvale Cemetery Clean-up

Midwest Cemetery Preservation is co-hosting a cemetery clean-up event with the Chicago Heights Historical Preservation Advisory Committee.  We are seeking volunteers to remove overgrowth of vegetation and some small trees. We will be making a map of what is left of the cemetery, filling out reports of existing grave markers, documenting the current condition and locations of what is left within the burial ground.

The event is Saturday June 7th at 10:00am-3:00pm  All supporters are welcome to show up.  Even if you cannot do physical work your moral support is appreciated.  Should you have any questions about this event please contact the event coordinator Lawrence Varkalis by email at MidwestCemetery@Hotmail.com or fill out our contact form at the bottom of this webpage.

While we try to make these events family friendly, this project is for ages 12 and over due to it's location and topographical features.

Due to the limited amount of parking we recommend you to carpool in groups if you can.

Tools we are asking volunteers to bring are;

Gloves
Work Boots and or Water Proof Rubber Boots if possible (the location is marshy)
Bug Spray
Tree Loppers for cutting small branches
Hacksaw for cutting small trees
Metal Garden Rake
Water
Brown Bag Lunch

Please dress appropriately wearing long pants that you don't mind getting dirty.  We will have an on site restroom facility.
