Suburban Church Undertakes Project, “The Big Give!”
Greater Faith Baptist Church of Chicago Heights kicks off the holiday season by giving to needy
Chicago Heights, IL, December 3, 2012 — The holiday season should be filled with cheer, shopping, festivities and celebrations, but that is not the case for many families hit hard economically. Greater Faith Baptist Church, located at 1417 Emerald Ave. in Chicago Heights, Ill., is working hard to reverse the stench of poverty that reeks in and around their community with their “Big Give” initiative.
Starting December 19th, Greater Faith Baptist Church will implement three days of service by providing individuals and their families food, gently used clothing and toys for this holiday season, an activity they’ve executed for XX years.
“While our church is a small in number and has many financial challenges of its own, we will continue to serve mankind with a big heart full of the spirit of giving for this holiday season,” said Rev. Walter L. Mosby, III who leads the church and this program.
The church is currently reaching out to the community for in-kind donations of gently used clothing for entire families, newly packaged toys for children of all ages and non-perishable food items to families so they will not go without a warm holiday meal this season.
The “Big Give” kicks-off December 19th with a volunteer appreciation dinner to gather and honor those who decided to unselfishly dedicated their time in caring for others throughout this year. Services to the families will take place December 20th and 21st from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., and on December 22nd from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the church.
Those interested in volunteering or donating can call (708) 248-5226, and families interested in receiving services through the “Big Give” must pre-register by calling (708) 365-9889. Greater Faith Baptist Church is a 501c3 organization and all donations received are tax deductible.
