Illinois Green Party Membership Meeting

The ILGP will hold its state membership meeting on Saturday, March 15, at the Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway Homewood, IL. from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

At the meeting ILGP members will help make a final decision about running a slate of candidates for statewide offices (governor, U.S. Senator, etc.) in 2014, as well as prepare for our petition drives, which start later in the month. We will also be holding elections for state party offices (Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, and four Vice Chairs) and GPUS representatives. The meeting is free and open to the public. Friday Night Social:  7-11pm Flossmoor Station Restaurant and Brewery, 1035 Sterling Avenue, Flossmoor, Illinois

Saturday Meeting Site:  Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway, Homewood, IL.  The building opens at 9 am.

Proposed Agenda

9 am: Registration

9:30 am: Welcome, Introductions, amend/approve agenda — 15 minutes

9:45 am–2014 Platform: Initial discussion – 45 minutes

10:30 am: General Election Campaign 2014 – 1 hour 45 minutes

A. Review list of candidates; short candidate statements, including campaign needs
B. Nomination of candidates for state constitutional offices; approval of state slate.
C.  Coordinated petitioning efforts

12:00 Lunch break: Platform committee works out amendments as needed. Lunch catered by Eat Rice. 30 minutes

12:45 pm: Call/nominations for candidates for state party offices and Green National Committee – 45 minutes

1:30 pm: Officer Elections – 45 minutes

2:15 pm: General Election Campaign 2014: Complete action on petitioning plan; fundraising plan, volunteer coordination and other state party campaign support – 60 minutes

3:15 pm: Announce officer election results – 5 minutes

3:20 pm: Local Elections 2015: Announcement/discussion of any declared candidates; review timeline, resources. – 30 minutes

3:50 pm: Independent Maps Campaign – 10 minutes

4:00 pm: Unfinished business – 40 minutes

4:40 pm: State Meeting Concludes.  Please stay to help clean up.  We must be out of the building by 5:00pm.

Saturday Night Fundraiser Dinner 5 – 10pm:  Sanfrantello’s,127 West Main in Glenwood, IL. Social Hour at 5:30; Dinner at 6:30; Program at 7:30. Price:  $35.00/$20 low income. There will be a silent auction and a program with speakers including Congressional Candidates Paula Bradshaw and Nancy Wade. 

Transportation

By Car:  Homewood Public Library has a parking lot.

Metra:  The Metra Electric District Train runs from Millennium Station to the Homewood Station.  If you take the 7:48am train, it will arrive in Homewood at 8:32am—just in time to walk to the meeting two blocks east to Dixie Highway and then 2 blocks north to the library. (Follow Harwood north and take Chestnut or Elm over to Dixie Highway)

The Metra also leaves Chicago from Millenium Station at 7:48, 9:30, 10:30 and 11:30

Return trip via Metra:  Trains leave from Homewood at the following times:  5:57, 6:55, 7:54, 8:54, 9:54, 10:54, 11:54, 12:54

AmTrak: For those coming from the South on the Illini, Friday night, you would arrive at the AmTrak station in Homewood at 8:27 pm. If you arrive early Saturday on the City of New Orleans, you would get into the Homewood Station at 7:44 a.m.  For the return trip Sunday morning, you would want to catch the Saluki at 8:56 a.m.

For those coming from Chicago’s Union Station, the Illini, departing 4:05 p.m., gets into Homewood at 4:46 p.m. and the City of New Orleans, departing 8:05 p.m., arrives at Homewood at 8:54. On Saturday morning, the Saluki departs Union Station at 8:15am and arrives at Homewood at 8:56. For a return trip Sunday morning, you could catch the City of New Orleans at 7:44 a.m. or the Saluki at 11:44 a.m.

Transportation from the train station to the Friday night social may be available for persons arriving by AmTrak Friday night; please call Rita Maniotis at 708-955-6964, in advance, for arrangements.
