Heights Biz Owner Rallying for Tornado Relief

Here's how you can help out victims of the Coal City tornado.

UPDATE: The drop-off location has been changed to the front of Country Squire, 113 W Joe Orr Rd in Chicago Heights, from noon to 4 p.m.

Chicago Heights business owner Jared Pryszcz of J&J Painting and Restoration is taking it upon himself to collect supplies and deliver them to Coal City to help victims of the recent tornado.

“I have a friend who has family there and was distraught,” Pryszcz said. “He went out there today and realized how much people don't have even the basics to take a shower.”

Pryszcz is asking residents to donate water, canned foods, clothes, blankets, toys, baby supplies and hygienic products so that he can personally deliver them to victims in need. Homewood, Flossmoor and other surrounding area communities are invited to participate as well.

“By the time the Red Cross or state aid comes, it'll be later and now isn't the time to wait to help someone,” Pryszcz said.

If you’d like to make a donation, you can drop it off from noon to 4 p.m. on Friday in front of Country Squire Food Market, 113 W. Joe Orr Road in Chicago Heights. If that’s not possible, Pryszcz will come and pick it up from you. Arrangements can be made by contacting him directly via the J&J Painting and Restoration Facebook page or by phone at 708-577-0225.
