Police Chief Michael Camilli Bids Farewell: Names in the News

After 36 years in law enforcement, Camilli says it's time to focus on other things.

When Chief Michael Camilli talked about a younger generation of police, he compared it to Patch.

"Who would have thought of the media on the Internet?" Camilli asked. "It’s a paper. No, it’s not paper, it’s a computer. It’s the same thing with police work. There’s new things too. You’ve got the same old police work ideals, but it’s all about new younger people that come up with new ideas."

Chief Camilli has been an outstanding public servant. I learned a great deal from him over the past few years of knowing him. He has never hesitated to assist South Chicago Heights and we will miss his leadership and friendship. Mike, I wish you and your family the best of retirement. Good kuck and God bless.
