Time to Kick Cancer Where it Hurts

My husband's fight against cancer- and how we can all help.

It's gotten personal.

A lot of you know five years ago my best friend was diagnosed with cancer, and it turned my world around. Being the warrior she is- she defeated it handily and has devoted herself to the fight against cancer ever since.

Recently, my husband was diagnosed with Stage 3 "colonic- type" adenocarcinoma of the appendix.  He's 32 years old. Years ago, when the doctors laid out the health risks of inactivity, poor nutrition, and obesity- he turned his life around. He's lost 100 lbs. He's been vegan for five years. He works out six days a week. He's done everything right. And stage 3 colon cancer. Cancer doesn't care that he's worked so hard. Environment and genetics – in spite of all his work – are the likely culprits for his condition.

It's scary.  Actually, it's terrifying. Survival rates for stage 3"colonic- type" adenocarcinoma of the appendix are unclear since it's so rare.  For colon cancer (very similar) it's about 59 percent.  I have to believe he's in that 59 percent.  He's young and otherwise in good health.  He has two beautiful daughters to live for, and a world of support.

Still, I'm furious. ENRAGED.

Cancer is actually very preventable. PREVENTABLE- though sometimes not by the individual.  Environment and genetics. The sad and outrageous truth is they poison our food, fill our soil, water and air with toxins... knowing it will expose the people to these carcinogens.

In our own back yard, Crestwood decided it was an acceptable trade off to gamble with cancer cocktail water. This is not unique! If it makes a company a buck, they'll sacrifice our best friends, our husbands, our daddys...  It's time to put a stop to it.

Admittedly, it's a small step, but a first step. Make a donation, join our team... Let's use this as a step to start talking about this and working toward a solution.  There's more of us being killed every day by this corporate irresponsibilty and poor education and nutrition than there are of them.

This is a fight we can win!

I hope you can join my family for this Relay, or make a donation. For more info see the link below
