Marian softball wins 8th straight; Women's lacrosse prevails

SOFTBALL- Marian 7, Providence 2

Kelly Foley went 3-for-4 with two runs as visiting Marian Catholic scored seven runs in the final three innings to rally from a 2-0 deficit and earn a 7-2 ESCC victory at Providence Catholic on Monday. Haley Earl (13-4) scattered five hits to earn the win, also getting backing from Alex Nickel (2-for-4, RBI), Becca Stanton (double, two RBI), Jenny LaBella (RBI, run) and her own bat (2-for-4, RBI). The Spartans improved to 23-7 overall with their eight straight victory and to 11-3 in the ESCC.

W LACROSSE- Marian 15, Maine South 3

Ashley Pradhan scored four goals with an assist and Shelby Cosman added three scores to pace host Marian Catholic to a 15-3 romp over Maine South on Monday to open IHSWLA Sectional play. The Spartans (9-11) also got goals from Christine Diluia, Abby Brunner, Sara Pustai, Maria Brown, Olivia Giannetti, Sam Kinder, Celeste Friel and Robin Wilson.

Kirsten Videka notched eight saves in goal for Marian.

M TENNIS- Marian captures third in ESCC Tournament

First singles players Julian Childers won his fourth straight ESCC title in leading the Spartans (66 points) to third place in the ESCC tournament behind Benet (69) and Carmel (6-8). The Spartans will host their own IHSA Sectional this Friday and Saturday. Marian winners in the ESCC include:

1st singles: 1. Julian Childers (MC) beat Matt Bisbee (MA), 6-1, 6-0 {Childers first 4-time ESCC singles champ}.
2S: 3. Josh Pinkus (MC) beat Pat Hulsebosch (SV), 6-1, 6-4.
1D: 3. Mitch Zavesky-Kyle Scheffers (MC) beat Dan Desio-Jow Nowakowski (SV), 6-2, 7-5.
2D: 3. Tim LaVelle-Liam Kroning (MC) beat Zach Ziegfried-Nate Naal (JC), 5-7, 7-3, 7-6
3D: 1. Alex Romano-Kevin Dawson (BA) beat Nico Moorman-Patrick Murday (MC), 6-4, 4-6, 6-0.

BASEBALL- Benet 7, Marian Catholic 6

Host Marian Catholic held an early 6-1 lead on Monday, but Benet Academy rallied with a six-run sixth inning to steal away a 7-6 ESCC victory from the Spartans.

Marian (17-14, 5-10) was led at the plate by Brad Bohlen (2-for-3, two doubles, two RBI) and Mitch Weissenhofer (2-for-3, double, run, RBI).
