On Jan. 31, 2012, most people were figuring out ways to enjoy the insanely mild weather, which hit highs in the mid-50s.

On Jan. 31, 2011, most people were figuring out ways to survive an insanely brutal blizzard--the third worst in Chicago history--which dumped about 2 feet of snow on the area.

Amazing what a difference a year makes.
