Roaring Snowstorm Barely a Whimper in South Suburbs

Most of the snow hit the northwest suburbs, sparing Chicago Heights.


Though snow sporadically fell fast and thick throughout the day Friday in Chicago Heights, it was nowhere near to blanket the area.

Weather.com says the area got less than half an inch, with a high of 36 degrees.

But the predictions rang true for the northwest suburbs, which saw up to 8 inches in some areas, according to reports.

Still, it was pretty much business as usual around the Heights, with no reported closings or cancellations.

It is unknown how or if the city had prepared for the storm; officials did not respond to requests for comment on Friday.
