Satan Accused Of Interfering With Election, A Cute Pooch: Feedback Friday

A look back over what got Heights Patch readers talking.

Our readers do a great job of weighing in on topics they are passionate about, stories that are important to them or anything that is just plain interesting.

Here's a look at what has been said this past week on our Facebook page (where it appears we got a few more 'Likes!') and here on Chicago Heights Patch.

Mayor David Gonzalez followed the recently passed anti-nepotism policy even before it was official. He asked for the resignation of his daughter, a full-time city worker, within 30 days of election.

Here's what some of our readers had to say about it:

said, "Thank you, Mr. Mayor. You are creating a culture of honesty in city government and that will lead to great things for Chicago Heights as a whole!"

said, "Honesty cannot be gained by kicking back the nominal salary of a pol. I would serve for $1.00 a year to be a code enforcement officer in this area."

said, "Great job. Glad to hear."

said, "Why wasn't this ordinance introduced at the very first meeting?I brought this question up to the lead counsel in tough questions over 8 months ago. Stinks of something to me."

Our canine cutie up for adoption this week had a few of our Facebook fans getting a bit nostalgic.

Pat Frederickson ‎commented, "10.5 on the cuteness scale!"

Jeanette Nichols added, "I know, right? Reminds me of my childhood pet....."

Hands down, this story has been the most talked about post this week. Pastor Willie James Campbell opened a campaign event for U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. by decrying the "Satanic forces" arrayed against the congressman in his Democratic primary fight.

A couple of area readers chimed in:

commented, "I'm not defending the remarks but for those that are not aware of the millions of dollars that his brought to the Southland, just ask Aunt Martha's. They have been the benefactor of in excess of at least $20 million from the Feds for their community health centers throughout the region. How do I know, I use to work there."

said, "There's no excuse, or justification for fundamentalist, arrogant rhetoric like this in a political campaign. Seems like just another, in a long string of missteps, Jr."
