Turn Off Your Phone: Everyone's Thinking it, He's Just Saying it

How did this Crete man make headlines in Chicago Heights and Flossmoor? By cutting out the middle man.

Before President Obama made a certain little statement last week, Mace DeVries was becoming the most talked about man on Chicago Heights Patch. Why? He and his wife were watching a movie at Marcus Cinema and were interrupted when woman in the theater started talking on her phone. DeVries went up to the woman and said "Turn you damn phone off." The rest is history, as the woman called police and filed a report against DeVries. He wasn't arrested. Better yet, our story on Patch led to his appearance on WGN Radio to discuss the incident.

DeVries' stance on what he did was simple: "I absolutely should not have been as hostile about it as I was, but I was irritated and I let my anger get the best of me,” DeVries said, adding that he still advocates being outspoken if you don't like what someone is doing.
