Former Chicago Heights Furnace Supply Employee, 'Loving Aunt,' Dies

Esther Alvey spent her entire life growing up in the Chicago Heights area.

Longtime Park Forest and Chicago Heights resident Esther Alvey (nee Tiberi) died on Jan. 7 at the age of 89.

Alvey was the daughter of Thomas and Pasqualina “Parkie” Tiberi, who owned and operated Chicago Heights Furnace Supply located at 102 22nd St. She spent many years working for her parents at the family business.

Alvey was also married to the late Roy E. “Jack” Alvey, and with five siblings, she was the “loving aunt of many nieces and nephews.”

“My parents lived in Chicago Heights when they first got married and a few blocks from where Aunt Esther lived,” writes Alvey’s niece, Paula, on her online obituary. “We will miss her as we have missed Uncle Jack's laughter and his playing of the guitar and harmonica back in the day.”
