Muller Acura Hosts Red Cross Blood Drive

Plan on attending Muller Acura of Merrillville’s Blood Drive on Saturday, May 31st.
The dealership is hosting the event on behalf of the American Red Cross and hopes for
a large turnout.  Glenn Muller, Dealer Principal, pledges to make the first blood donation.
He was excited to explain a few of the benefits associated with donating blood.

“The most obvious benefit is the joy of saving human lives.  A single donation can help
save three lives.”  Then he went on to reveal several self serving reasons that one might
consider donating their blood.  “When you donate your blood, you get what amounts to a free health checkup.  Before the blood can be used it is subjected to a series of tests.
These can reveal particular infections or abnormalities that serve as early warning signs
for the donor.”

Muller went on to explain that donating blood reduces your risk of heart disease as well as cancer.  These are achieved primarily by reducing the amount of iron in your blood.
The reduction of excessive iron is thought to help ward off both of these major causes of death.  Regular blood donations have also shown to burn calories and
aid in weight control.

As if that weren’t enough, everyone who donates will receive a certificate for a $9.95 oil change at Muller Acura.

Muller finished by saying, “I really hope the community embraces this effort so that we
collect enough blood for the American Red Cross.  They do so much good, I’m committed to helping them achieve their goals.”

Muller Acura of Merrillville is located at 3301 W. 81st Avenue (Lincoln Highway) in Merrillville.  The Bloodmobile will be onsite from 10 am to 3 pm on Saturday, May 31st.
