$13,000 Coat Stolen from Chicago Heights Home: Blotter

Vincent Andrade, 48, of the 26000 block of Cambridge Drive, Crete, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol content greater than 0.08, disobeying a stop sign and driving without proof of insurance, according to a report. He was stopped at about 1:24 a.m. near the intersection of 14th Street and Portland Avenue.

After performing field sobriety tests, Andrade allegedly told police he had "maybe seven or eight" beers that night, according to a report. He was arrested and taken into custody.

During processing, Andrade submitted to a breath test and blew a 0.104, according to the report. He is due on June 20 in Markham court.

DUI Charges For Steger Man


Ian L. Mathias, 36, of the 3400 block of Kings Road, Steger, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol content greater than 0.08, driving with expired registration, driving without insurance and failing to signal when required, according to a report.

Police stopped a truck after noticing it was swerving in the lanes of traffic at about 2:14 a.m. near the intersection of Chicago Road and 14th Street. An officer could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from inside the truck. Mathias was asked to perform field sobriety tests, after which he was arrested. While in custody, he allegedly blew a 0.182 during a breath test.

Pricey Coat Stolen


A coat worth an estimated $13,000 was reported stolen from the living room of a house on Serenea Drive. According to a Chicago Heights police report, the luxury outerwear went missing sometime that night.

The daughter of the coat's owner had several people over, both acquaintances and strangers, during the time the coat was reportedly stolen, according to the report. An alarmed in the house also was tripped that night at about 11 p.m. A second victim also reported a stolen wallet during the same incident.

No arrests were reported.
