8 Neglected Pit Bulls Rescued from South Suburban Home

No signs of dog fighting were apparent, according to the Sun-Times Media.

A Dolton woman faces a slew of animal neglect charges after police discovered eight starving and dehydrated pit bulls at her home, the Sun-Times Media reports.

Amanda Wise, 29, is charged with one count of animal cruelty, eight counts of owner's duties and one count of obstructing a police officer for originally providing officers a false name.

All the dogs were rescued by South Suburban Humane Society in Chicago Heights. There were no signs of dogfighting, according to Executive Director Emily Klehm.

“All eight of them were super-friendly,” Klehm told the Sun-Times. “We don’t yet know what health issues we are dealing with, but we intend to save all eight.
