FRIDAY, AUG. 17

P.O.V. Battery

A 23-year-old Homewood man told police he was playing "bags" at the Tender Trap on Halsted Street when a man punched him. The man said he woke up on the ground. Police saw a two-inch laceration on the man's forehead, according to the report. A witness told police the attacker was actually leaving the bar and bumped into the man as he was about to throw a bean bag. The man then turned around and said something to the attacker before being punched, according to the witness. The witness also said the attacker left with two others. The bartender at the Tender Trap told police the attacker was known as "Chinto" and that he left in a black Charger. The Homewood man was treated for his injuries at St. James Hospital, police said.

THURSDAY, AUG. 16

Stomach Punch

Luis E. Sanchez, 32, of the 100 block of Broadway Avenue, was arrested and charged with domestic battery after his roommate told police he punched her in the stomach while she was sleeping. The woman said she had warned Sanchez not to hit her, according to the report. The woman refused medical attention and had no visible injuries, police said.

Broken Window and Bloody Cooler

A 21-year-old Chicago Heights man told police his wife said she heard a banging noise. The man then discovered his window was broken, according to police. The man told police he also noticed a cooler that was outside the house had been broken and moved, according to the report. Police saw blood on the cooler and on two vehicles near the house. They tagged the cooler and lids as evidence. The man told police he also saw his knife scabbard, which was empty, on the ground outside, according to the report.

WEDNESDAY, AUG. 15

Dinner Plate Attack

Carmen Valadez, 59, of the first block of East Joe Orr Road, was arrested and charged with domestic battery after her ex-husband told police she struck him in the back of the head with a ceramic dinner plate, which broke into multiple pieces. Police saw the broken plate and a two-inch laceration on the man's head, with a "significant amount of blood," according to the report. Police called an ambulance for the husband but he refused medical attention, according to the report.

TUESDAY, AUG. 14

Assault

A 23-year-old Chicago Heights man told police his ex-girlfriend called him about seven times within a short period of time saying things like "You'll be in jail by this week" and "People are going to shoot you." The man told police his ex is upset because he has a new girlfriend.

MONDAY, AUG. 13

Catalytic Converters Stolen

An employee of Copart Salvage Auto Auctions, in the first block of Sauk Trail in South Chicago Heights, told police someone cut the chain to one of the business's gates and removed the catalytic converters from three vehicles. Each of the converters is valued at $600, according to the report. The employee told police there was surveillance footage of people with flashlights in the parking lot during the time of the burglary.
